World Youth Day 2011

“Rooted and Built Up in Jesus Christ, Firm in the Faith” (Col 2:7)

The 26th World Youth Day 2011 will be hosted by Madrid, Spain over a seven-day period from August 15-21. Pope Benedict XVI has indicated he plans to attend this inspiring festival of prayer, worship, and celebration, which culimates with a pilgrimage walk to the overnight Vigil Site and Holy Mass with Our Father.

The theme for 2011 is from the second chapter of the Apostle Paul's Letter to the Colossians:

“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him
and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Col 2: 6-7)

This unforgettable event for Catholics and youth around the world is regarded as an evangelical pilgrimage with the goal of inspiring a new generation of Catholics, and it's one you won't want to miss.
