Regarded as the longest running play in history, the Passion Play, portraying Jesus' suffering, death, and Resurrection, is presented every ten years in the charming Bavarian town of Oberammergau, Germany. The villagers first performed their play in 1634 in gratitude to God for delivering them from the Black Plague that swept through Europe.

“ The Passion Play was a superb experience; much better than I thought it would be. It was a unique theatrical and religious experience. ”

Passion Play Experience

"When I attended the Passion Play in 2000, I felt as though I was transported back in time to the old city of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus, witnessing firsthand the emotions and gaining a perspective I did not get through the written word. One such perspective was the choice that Judas made in betraying Jesus and its consequence. I still vividly remember the painful look I saw on Judas' face as he stated that the only man that could save him now was dead. I was so caught up in the moment that I felt the urge to stand up and shout he is not dead Judas, don't do it!"
